Scholarship

Every member of Phi Mu takes scholarship seriously, as we are all here at Northwest for school. Phi Mu helps each of our members push themselves to do their best and rewards our members for all their hard work and success.

Every semester we host a Scholarship Banquet. Members who earned a 3.5 GPA or higher the previous semester are invited to the banquet to celebrate with food and fun. We eat, raffle off prizes, and acknowledge outstanding hard work. Girls are awarded a certificate dedicated to their hard work. We recognize high GPA’s, improved GPA’s, and high study hours.

We also like to acknowledge our members who have worked hard on school assignments in our weekly chapter meetings. A "Loud and Proud" jar is passed around and members write an assignment that they take pride in, whether that be an A on a quiz or a B on an extensive class project. We also reward girls who study hard in the library. Occasionally, we walk around with “Library Raids” and reward studious members with candy and an encouraging note. Each semester, the pledge class with the highest cumulative GPA is awarded with a pizza party.

Members are encouraged through Chapter Developments to set goals, create resumes, and think about their futures. We encourage members to get help from tutors, supplemental instructions, and academic success coaching. We also have members who work in campus departments such as Career Services and at the Student Success Center and they are always encouraging our members to seek help if they need to and are always there to help.

As of Spring 2018, Phi Mu has the highest overall GPA within the Greek community on the NWMSU campus! We are so proud of our ladies hard work and dedication to academics!
